I have been into the 3D FPS scene since DOOM. Too bad that there haven't been any games since DOOM that have had the impact that it did on me... the numerous nights filled with nightmares while I slept. It was awesome! I hadn't played multiplayer until DOOM II. A local gaming network was set up where 4 players could dial in and play over a simulated IPX network, and everything suffered for awhile because of that -- school, work... damn the addiction! The next big obsession was with Quake, playing for hours and hours a day, entering local deathmatch tournaments and dominating the scene. Then, the game that displayed the Most High Funfactor was released -- Hexen II! Since then I have taken up a little Quake II action, but the attraction to that has since wore off. Can't wait for Heretic II!
